Tanzania Day One Feb 11

After a protracted wait at the very small but efficient Arusha airport we got on the small plane enrout to Ubutu in the South of the Serengiti.  There were four stops on the way and after a 2.5hour delay the "short" flight ended up taking almost two hours.

The runways were a bit less developed than expected!

Then we were met by our guide Hatibu who took us to the Olakira Camp.

The camp is completely made of tents.  This allow for quick removal and resetting as the Wildebeest migrate and makes the least impact on the environment.  We were led to our tent and were amazed at the luxury that was built in.

No sooner were we settled but we climbed into an open Land Rover and went out for a game drive, searching for animals with our guide. The Wildebeest were everywhere!  We saw many beautiful birds and a lioness who was in the bush just outside our camp!

The sunset from our tent was magnificent!

After a scrumptious dinner we were off to bed.  Our sleep was briefly interrupted by the sounds of a hippo eating grass outside our tent.
