We are off on our next great adventure. This time a trip to Istanbul for 4 days followed by approximately 3 weeks in Africa, then 4 days in Amsterdam and one week in Iceland. This requires a lot of wardrobe planning as we will be in climates which vary greatly one from the other. Shorts and swimshuits for Africa and winter gear for Iceland and in between for the rest. We had it all planned when, two days before departure we read the fine print and discovered that we had strict weight limits for our in-country flights! We were restricted to 15kg!!! Also bags cannot exceed certain dimensions! Paul's EMPTY case was close to 4 kg and the dimensions too large!!! This forced us to rethink everything and it took us 2 days to figure out how we could pare down and cope with both the heat and the cold. We ended up with small carry ons and a backpack for winter clothes, neither
Having achieved that difficult task we woke up on the day of departure to learn that there had been a terrible earthquake in Turkey! We waited all day
to determine whether the flight would go ahead and...finally it did! So we are on our way, a 10 hour flight
and we will be in Istanbull!
