Made it to Istanbul

First I should say that we have been trying to come to Istanbul for years but have been unable to for a number of reasons, civil unrest, family responsibilities and, of course, Covid. I am so excited to finally be here!

We flew over many heavily populated areas.

We arrived at 4pm local time and made our way theough customs and immigration in a HUGE airport...so big that scooters were available!

We arrived to an overcast, cold and snowy day and were met at the airport by the car we had booked in advance.  We drove for a full hour past many, many apartment buildings, mosques and busy streets and arrived at our very quaint hotel which is located directly behind the blue mosque!

Our roon is probably the smallest we have ever had.

Then we took a walk in the area and ended up at a small restaurant where I had a traditional Turkish meal, chicken and vegys in a clay pot which is brought to the table on fire! It is called Testi Kabob.

Then it was off to our hotel and an early night where we hope to get over the jet lag of an 8 hour time change.
