Today, the 10th of February, ŵas our last day in Istanbul. We slept in a bit, had a leisurely breakfast looking out at the Marmora sea and then packed our bags and took care of some details
Then we took a short walk and visited the Hippodrome. This was the area during Romam times which was devoted to the entertainment of the. Time, gladiators, races etc.At the timme it could accomodate 100,000 pproplr! oday it is a large area paved with bricks. At one end is the German Fountain which was a gift from Germany and weighs many tons. This was given in recognition of the importance of having a fountain with ablution stations to.the Muslim population.
At.the other end two columns are situated.
One is egyption and the second is Roman from the time of Constantine.
After our short walk we returned to our hotel and made our way to the airport enroute to Tanzania.
