The weather forecast was discouraging the next morning, so we changed our plans and rather than going further north we decided to head southward.
We drove for two days in pouring rain, stopping one night just outside Glasgow. We didn't stop to explore due to the continuously falling rain and pressed on until we reached York.
The old city of York has one of the best preserved city walls and the city centre consists of old medieval buildings. This makes it unique and very interesting. Also, when we arrived the sun made a brief appearance and we had a rain free evening and night to explore the old city.
We spent some time in a pub and listened to some very good live musicians.
