We checked into our very nice hotel (Santaigo Solace) and had an hour settle-in. Then we decided to walk to the sky tower as all other attractions were closed, it being a Monday.
This tower is the highest in South America (600 meters) and it is an engineering marvel as Chile is situated on continental rift and has the second most earthquakes in the world. The view is spectacular from the tower and the river running through the city is in full evidence. This river originates from a glacier in the mountains, which we could not see due to seasonal clouds.
The distant mountains were also picturesque.
The building is open to the sky and rainwater is collected for building functions (A/C, toilets for example)
The tower sits on a 5 story mall where we ate and did some shopping.

Then we wandered back to our hotel...tired and ready to put our jet lagged bodies into a comfy position.
